Human Beats
“We interpreted human bodies as a musical score and lett users interact through dance.”
THE CHALLENGE
_
Human Beats was an interactive installation which allowed the user to listen to the inner noise of their body, whilst their movements were uniquely visualised in real time.
We collaborated with J Walter Thompson México for Nestlé Crunch México.
The concept was developed so users could experience how their body, and its movements looked and sounded.
Visual
_
We explored multiple solutions whilst trying to achieve the best visualisation that would represent music within the human body. The solution used audio-reactive particles and 3D meshes to create the avatar of the user.
Workflow
_
The installation was controlled by two brand communicators.
By using iPads, we guided users through the whole experience.
THE INSTALATION
_
In order to reach the target audience we used two dedicated trucks whilist on tour in Mexico. Each side of the truck was covered with LEDs giving us a 16 meters display wall. The trucks had 2 possibilities to setup the displays:
Technology
_
Normally within a virtual reality environment, the user doesn’t have limbs, making the whole experience disjointed. By using motion tracking kit on the hands and body, we added an extra dimension to the experience, which allowed the users to play with the environment and move freely within the situation, increasing impact on them.
Interaction
_
Interacting with music is an unusual concept, the lack of visual content makes it difficult for humans to understand. We had to find a common movement pattern that fitted with multiple dance styles.
